Understandably, many of us in the real estate industry love the end of the year. The holidays are quickly approaching, and with them cold weather and hearts warmed by the company of friends and loved ones. We hope for all of you, an opportunity to reflect with pride on a successful year — even as you look forward to the promise of success in the new one just around the corner.

After years in the business, we have learned this time of year there are two groups of agents out there who might not be embracing the season with, shall we say, the same sense of accomplishment:

1. Those who are scrambling to find an all-cash buyer who needs to close before the end of the year to stay in business

2. Those who are blinking in disbelief at the calendar that says “December” and are asking themselves, “Where did this year go?”

Many in the first of those two groups are hoping for only a few more closings to accomplish their goals. But as they scurry to wrap things up and salvage the year, they are frustrated because they know they could have made it if only they had remained focused on their goals.

As for the second group, well, they are just hoping for something, anything, which will motivate them to hold their heads high and step boldly into next year with renewed vigor and determination.

No matter which group you find yourself in, here is a bit of end-of-the-year good cheer: It’s not too late to turn things around and at the same time, set the stage for a prosperous future.
